Introducing a new secretary in a new department: Ms. Erna Wardani, S.Pd, M.hum

Jenderal Soedirman University, as one of the best universities in Indonesia, always improves and develops its facilities and technology. Also, Jenderal Soedirman University always does observation about what Indonesia needs to make Indonesia better. A quote said a great people can create some quality things , but some quality teachers can produce thousand great people". As we know, the education in Indonesia is still apprehensive. Indonesia needs a lot of skillful teachers. Besides of the fact, Jenderal Soedirman University wants to make the education in Indonesia better. Jenderal Soedirman University also wants to produce many skillful teachers. With some consideration, finally in almost two years Jenderal Soedirman University has new major which are concerned in the education. It is education department.

Ms. Erna Wardani, S.Pd, M.hum, as a lecturer of English department in Jenderal Soedirman University, is mandated to be a secretary of education department. With other lecturers, she tries to develop this education department. She said everything is new for this department, so Ms Erna has to learn more about it it. Although there is a little difficulty in managing new department, she really enjoys bearing all her responsibilities. Ms Erna who likes jazz and classical music hoped education department can be a faculty of education soon.

Although Ms. Erna is getting busy with two activities now, being a lecturer and being secretary of education program, she still can do her hobbies in spare time, Her hobbies are reading and testing some food. She loves to read so many books. She advices all English students to read more all English subjects. It is better for students to read and compare contents of some books so student can enrich their English knowledge. She likes to taste some foods in her spare time as well. She said food is not only about things that we taste, but also about culture and creativity. from food we can know the culture and history of ethnics. 

Book Review

Rindu

Rindu is written by Tere Liye and published on September 25^th  2014  within  544 pages including forty nine chapters. Editor of this book is Andriyati, cover by EMTE, and the lay out by Alfian. It is the 20^th of Tere Liye’s works. The genre of this book is fiction. This novel tells about hajj pilgrimage trip in 1938. As you know hajj is harder in the past year. We have to go there by ship and it takes a long time to arrive.  A long trip full of longing started in big ship of Blitar Holland. In this book also tells  about history of Indonesia, and many question of the past, hatred, destiny, and love is completed this novel.

There are many characters in this novel. The first is Gurutta Ahmad Karaeng. He was a famous person who liked to give religious speech and he also wrote many books. Sergeant Lucas was strict because he was the leader officer who resolved the problem in the ship. He was like police in this era. Captain Philips was kind, wise, and polite. Daeng Andipati and his family was kind and friendly. Ambo Uleng was mysterious. Ruben was Ambo Uleng's friend. He was so helpful.  Bunda Upe was a teacher for children in the ship. Eyang Kakung and Eyang Putri were elder who have romantic stories.

When I read this novel, I felt like I came back to the past. When Indonesia was still taken over by Holland government, we had to followed their rules. Horror hit citizen. But there were still many younger generation who fought for their country. They had a great spirit to fight for their country. But it causes many lost. They didn’t know what time they would pass away or their family would left them because of war. They just believe that the independence of Indonesia would come.

A few days before Blitar Holland sailed, Captain Philips met a young man. He was Ambo Uleng. Almost his entire life was spent in the sea, so he became a good sailor. He was a silent person because there was something hidden in his heart, and he closed it very tight. Even Captain Phillips was not told the reason he hid his problem and why he decided to work in the ship of Blitar Holland. Captain Phillips liked the character of Ambo Uleng and he knew that Ambo Uleng was a good sailor therefore he accepted Ambo Uleng, but Ambo Uleng need to learn many things so he was put as the worker in the canteen. In the ship Ambo Uleng met his roommate named Ruben, and he also met  Guruta, Chef Lars and Daeng Andipati’s family.

Daeng Andipati had beautiful wife and 2 children named Elsa and Anna. Elsa as older sister and Anna as younger sister. Both of them like argued each other. It made me remember about my sister and I. We always argue for everything so our parents need to overcome us. So did Elsa and Anna. Elsa and Anna were cheerful and made others happy. The story feels alive because of them. They also met many new friends.

I love the story of Eyang Kakung and Eyang putri. How Eyang Kakung treated Eyang Putri was very gentle. He came to Eyang Putri’s parents and told them that he wanted to marry her daughter. At the first time the father of Eyang Putri rejected him because Eyang Kakung didn’t have a good job, but after Eyang Kakung promised to make Eyang putri always happy, he lets his daughter married. Eyang Kakung always do the best to make Eyang Putri happy. He also promised to go to Mekkah and they would hajj together. Until they already old, they finally actualize their dream. Everybody who heard that story felt so happy. And there were still many romantic stories about two of them.

The summary of this novel is every person that I told before has their own problems. Those problem was well described and to resolve all of the problems you just have to understand the problem, try to open your mind, try to accept, and try to forgive all the problem in your life. However destiny is something that you cannot predict, what will happen in the future is beyond your imagination. And you have to accept it if you want to find happiness.

What I can learn in this novel is in every books, like fairy tales, novel, and many other books have the writer. And God is the owner of the most perfect  stories on this earth. You have to believe that  the story of your life is the best thing God has written. With that believe, then you will not feel broken heart, disappointed, or feel hopeless.

So I want to tell you once again that you must read this novel because there are many things that you can get after reading this novel. So enjoy reading

Changes

          This story is about my life. I am Farensa Kirana. I live with my parents. But my parents are very busy.  My father is a well known businessman. He always travels around. He does some business so he rarely comes home. My mother is a busy person too. My  mother is a famous designer for tabloid. Because my mom always makes impressive dress, she always invited to big event. And she also has large boutique that must be handled. So she also rarely comes home.

            And how about me, actually I am just a little girl who is still in senior high school. Of course, I go to the most famous and expensive school that everybody in this school are rich person. I like to wear short skirt and many bracelet which make my hand more beautiful. I have long brown hair, pointed nose, bright skin, and brown eyes. I have brown eyes from my mother who have relatives from other country. I don’t know where the exact place. I just remember my mom ever told me like that. Therefore I look like foreigner. Everyone who saw me certainly think that I am not from Indonesia.

Now let me introduce my best friend, I have a group of ladies. In this group there are 5 people including me. We have our own names, so we called each other differently with others. Such as my name is Farensa Kirana but they like to call me Eca. I know that there is no relation between Farensa to Eca but it’s okay. My friends are Ela, Eri, Eci. Eva. All is begin with E. Because we are 5 person and we like to make our nick name easy to remember and it makes us more closer.

I love to hang out with my friends. Whether it is morning, afternoon, even evening. We like to go to school together, I usually pick them up with my car. And in school our group is very famous. You know we are beautiful, rich and fashionable. Maybe some of them love us for real and some of them are jealous. But I don’t care. We just want to have fun with our life. We love to go to club in the night. We are always wear make up when we go to the club to cover that we are still in senior high school.

Club is a place where everyone having fun. It is very crowded. There is a dance floor. We hope we can dance all night long and drink as much as possible but I remember that I have to drive so I just drink a little bit alcohol. When we go there, we can forget a little bit of our problem.

As you know all of us have the same problem, our family is too busy with their business. They don't care about us. What they think is just how to get much money. They didn't think about their children. I feel so  angry with them.

In school we always chit chat about boys. Oh my god, I almost forgot to tell you about my boyfriend. He is really charming, good looking. He is my senior in senior high school. He is good at sport especially basketball. I like to accompany him when he plays basketball. He is tall, bright skin, pointed nose, and his hair is short. He is a tidy person, so I like him. In weekend we usually  go to mall and some other places that is fun to hang out.

I love to spend my day outside my home, because my home is too quiet. Although my room is very big and the furniture is complete, I feel so lonely inside. After I wake up, I just want to go out as soon as possible.

One day my friends and I made a plan, we would like to have a party. And the party is held in my house. We started to buy everything we need such as snack, drink and many others stuff. We were so tired to prepare the party. But all of them was paid off because many of our friends came to the party. The party is so amazing. My boyfriend also came to our party. And we had fun together.

Until unpredictable moment came. My parents came home. They were so angry after they saw the house was fully mess. Then my father shouted my name.

“Farensa!”said my father

I was terribly panic at that time, my father never shout at me like that.

With panic face, I came forward to my father.

“What do you mean by this?”

I couldn’t answer that question,

And my father started shouting.

“ Get out all of you, if not I will call the police!”

Then all of my friends ran towards door. After that my parents continued angry at me. I kept silent. Only my tears that fell down.

“I don’t believe you do something like this.” Said my mother

After a long time silent

I said “I am sorry mom, dad.”

“Why do you behave like this?”

I started to cry louder than before.

“it’s be.. be.. because I feel so lonely”I said

My father and my mother felt regret after they heard my confession and they started to apologize at me. They hug me so tightly and they promised to spend their time more with me. I felt so happy after hearing that.

In the next day, when I come to school. I thought my friends would apologize at me, but they didn’t say apologize at all. They even angry at me. After all this time, I thought they were my real friends. In fact they were not.

My whole life is changed when all of my friends keep away from me. But I feel so grateful for everything that I have done. I can learn many things, such as in fact my parents love me so much, and I realize that real friends will never leave you. A good friend will bring you to be a good person. Therefore I will introspect myself, and I hope someday I will find my real friends.

        

Movie Review

The HOBBIT

THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES

            The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies is the third  and the final of the Hobbit sequence. This movie tells about the adventure of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, and the Dwarves who start their journey in the Middle Earth. This movie is directed by Peter Jackson based on J.R.R. Tolkien novel. Martin Freeman is the main character of this film. He acts as Bilbo Baggins. This movie released on December 17^th 2014.

            What I love most is when Smaug the dragon was dead. Smaug is greedy and strong. For almost Two hundred years, Dragon Smaug stayed in the mountain, lying within the great treasure of the Lonely Mountain. When Smaug destroys Lake town. He ruins everything in Lake town. So people from Lake town run away to find save place. There is someone who egoistic, he runs away while bring a lot of gold in his small boat. The boat run slowly. So Bard  who  take the archery go to the high place and he successful shoot the dragon with help from his son. He arrows right to the hearth of the dragon. The dragon fallen down and hit the boat. 

Visual effect is wonderful moreover when Bilbo Baggins and many others battle with the orc. The set design is really amazing too. The place seems real. The sound effects surprise me. Cinematography by Andrew Lesnie is the best as well. The last but not least that I love all the costume design, the hobbit, the elf, the dwarf and many others because they describe each character so perfectly.

So what I can learn from this movie are we can not be a greedy person because it will destroy us. We have to be a generous person who like to share what we have,  to people who needed. We also have to be a trusted person because it is important for friendship or social life. And if you love someone, you need to correct each other. Like Bilbo Baggins to Thorin, he tries to remind Thorin not to be a greedy person like the Smaug or like Thorin’s grandfather who turns to crazy person because of his greed.

Cloudy

I stared into the sky

My eyes were blind to see such beautiful stars

Everything looks beautiful

When you're not saying good bye

Tears coming down

Like cloud which close the bright of the sun

So dark, so cold, so quiet

Just listening a drop of water which had been fallen down

I open the window

And hope, I can see sky is smiling like before

It was as clear as sun rise

But the truth it was not, because there is not you by my side

Preface

First of all, thanks to Allah SWT who had given me a great family, lecturers and friends. Without them, I can’t be who I am right now. All of them give me so much inspirations. Therefore I make this blog. I want to make their dream comes true that I will be a better person by improving my writing skill.

The title of this blog is “Catching My Dreams” . It means I want to write many things that I enjoy the most such as poetry, movie review, trip, short story, book review, news article, local cultures, biography, report, and all of my lovely moment.

I feel so grateful for all that happened to me, Hopefully this blog can give motivation to readers.

As you know, I am still learning how to be a good writer. That is why there are so many mistakes in this blog. Therefore I hope the readers can give me comment or critism.
